Early on, commuters to Silicon Valley splurged on homes here. The news quickly alerted the media, and the neighborhood soon became one of the most sought-after places to live in the US.

While the neighborhood has several distinct geographic vibes and home styles, the hood is tied together with the main commercial area on Cortland Street. Cortland has just about a dozen different restaurants, bars, shops, grocers, and even a darling library. Suppose the walkability on Cortland isn't enough. In that case, Bernal Hill is the place to be, as one of the larger parks in the city and designated as an "off-leash" park for dogs; of course it's the destination for pups and their owners.
